The Khatam Quran Ceremony

So my Khatam Quran was held a day before I got married. We decided to have this ceremony quite at a last minute actually! Heck, we always make a decision about everything at a very last minute also! haha - Everyone seems to be very occupied with work for discussions, so....last minute planning is what would happen normally! -__-

Anyways about 3 to 4 weeks before the wedding, mom finally decided to have this ceremony, since there weren't so many things to be prepared and arranged for the event. There were only about six things to plan to be exact; order the food, make the dress, book the photographer & videographer, call the PA system guy, and buy the door gifts for the guests. That's all! Cuz the pelamin/stage, carpets, tents, table settings and etc were already installed for the wedding. Hence it's obviously convenient to manage two things at the same time as the effort that we needed to do for both events was only once! So having this Khatam Quran ceremony was just like killing two birds with one stone! hehe. We set the date to be on the 13th of December 2013, on a Friday morning just a day before the wedding...

Here's the highlights/snippets of the event/majlis. Took by the d&d Studio, a professional videographer who used to work with LH Media. I love his video! (But the date in the video is wrong though! haha. Never mind, he already edited it and will give it to me soon. Thanks guys!)

Shida was the first person to show up! She came all the way from Kerteh (she works there now. Sobs) and went straight to my room a.k.a the Bridal Room, and helped me get dressed! Thank you honey! The first thing she said to me when she entered the room and saw me wearing all white was, "OH MY GOD! YOU'RE FINALLY GETTING MARRIED!!!! I can't believe this!!! It's finally here! I feel so touched...seeing you in white and all the settings and everything!", and hugged me and we teared a little! :') Awww...such a sweetie pie she is! She's been with me through ups and downs...and quite know everything about me. She's the first person who knows about Hazim too when we started dating! Oh my God, writing this made me miss her! How I wish we could hang out often. But things different now...everyone is busy with family, work and life :(

My make up artist was my own two hands. haha. I wanted Kak Vee Elfaiiziens to doll me up with a natural look for that day. But I couldn't get her to secure the date. Or any other MUAs that I like. Sobs. That's the thing about weddings, you gotta book super early, if you wanna secure your date!

Mom was checking out my make up. She told me to look veryyy natural. hehe..

All set! Is this natural for you? haha. Sitting nervously in the room, waiting for the event to start..

Selfie with Shida too, of course!

Wani with Wani, my cousin.. hehe. Oh by the way, I was wearing a white dress/abaya from Radzuan Radziwill. Love the dress so much! Thank God he would still take my order even though my event is 3 weeks away! Gotta love him! I love the dress so much! More than I love my nikah dress actually! - Mainly because of the cutting. We'll get to that part later! I will talk about the dresses in another post yeah..

Me with Aunties, Datin-datin..and Puan Sri, all from the An-Nisa' community. They all wore purple, while the family wore yellow. Yellow and purple is such a happy color, no?

Anyways, my mom came up with the idea of having this Khatam Quran ceremony since we were gonna have a doa selamat & bacaan Yassin session for the wedding/majlis anyways, so she would like the bride-to-be (a.k.a yours truly) to end the ceremony with a du'a/prayer and a Khatam Quran. - Sweet! Another reason to make a white dress, is what came to my mind when she asked to have another pre-wedding event! LOL :p

"How's your tajwid? Awak boleh baca Quran tak?", is what she asked me last time before deciding to have the ceremony.
-_______-'

I graduated from the Islamic university, momma. Of course I can recite the Quran. Tapi cuma tak sedap/tak berlagu laa.. heheh. By the way, my mom is the chairwoman for the An-Nisa' Society Club. It's some sort like a women's community/organization/society club or whatever they called it lah. haha. So a total of 100 members of the An-Nisa' group has attended my Khatam Quran ceremony which was held at my house, all wearing their purple uniform! Lovely! ^__^

Everyone sitting in the hall, waiting for the bride-to-be

Well for my non-Muslim/non-Malaysian readers, the Khatam Quran ceremony indicates the completion of the recitation of the holy book, the Al-Quran. It began with a recitation of the first surah, al-Fatihah (The Opening) followed by a reading of the first five verses of the surah al-Baqara (The Cow) and complete the reading that ends with the surah an-Nas (The People). The ceremony was led by Ustazah Puan Sri Latipah and Ustazah Hajah Zaniah.

After the khatam, a prayer is read and we served the guests with sweet dishes to celebrate the woman who is soon to be married! ;)

You've enjoy the video, now let's enjoy the pics! Taken by Hafiz Ismail, my official wedding photographer.

So nervous..There were two ustazahs observing me! I hope my tajwid are right
O___o

That's my mom the chairwoman, and the Ustazah Hajah Zaniah

We begin the ceremony with reciting the surah Yassin, followed by berzikir/berzanji/marhaban..

I love how heavy the beading work at the edge of my scarf. My scarf feels heavy, but not too heavy, which I like. Something simple yet classy. All the money spent is worth it! Excellent workmanship! Thanks Radzuan! ;)

"Ma..I'm so nervous. What if I recite the verses wrongly?"

"You're too late to run away now". She whispered..

Right.

The recitation begins..

"Oh no...so here goes! Please don't embarrass yourself, Wani", I said to myself

"Bismillahhirrahmanirrahim"

It feels really weird hearing your own voice at the speaker. I hate microphone! Somehow your voice sounded weird when you hear it on speakers! haha

Ustazah Puan Sri Latipah was supervising me..

Thank God I made very little mistake! Teeheee.. Otherwise, it would have been embarrassing! :p

I love seeing everyone wearing the same shades of purple in the hall..and I'm the only one wearing white, I feel so special! hehe
^__^

Du'a/prayers by the bride-to-be..

Amin!

"Sadaqaullahul 'azim!"

It's feasting time! Thank God it didn't rain..It was a beautiful sunny morning!
(Just so you know, we put up with a transparent tent not for this majlis actually. It was for the night event happening on the next day)

Each of the guest received this pretty lace lemon-vanilla cupcake. I love the cute silver paper cup!

I ordered them from the same baker, Cake In Cups, who made my engagement Tiffany Box cake and the door gifts sugar cookies & cupcakes
They're delicious!

And oh! The guests received this lush Turkish sejadah/prayer mat too!
If anyone wants to order them, kindly leave me an email! I know the supplier! :)

While everyone else was enjoying their food, I sat at my pelamin, trying to sit and act very sopan for my akad nikah on the next day! A girl gotta practice! haha

"Girls...princess must sit properly la, like Aunty. Don't kangkang!" hehe

With my sister, Along wearing yellow, matching color with my pelamin ;)

My dear friend, Shida! Thanks for coming babe! Laff ya! :*

Till my next update guys! See ya!

XOXO,
Shazzy.
