The Other Half. Soul Mate. The Right One.

These days everyone keeps on asking me.. Have I found the right one yet? When will I get married? Am I seeing someone? And stuff like that. I know at mid-twenties most of my peers already married or at least, getting there.....and to be really honest, it kinda pressures me sometimes with all that questions. I know they care for me and they meant well..but really, finding a husband is not as easy as it sounds! Especially when you had a really bad experience! Because finding Mr. Right One is not as easy as finding the right shoe to pair with my outfit of the day in the morning, ok? hehe. Because that one, even if I don't like the color or the style, I can always change it in the middle of the day! Or just buy a new one! ;p

I mean...you gotta find someone with not just some great qualities that you will love forever, BUT the bad ones as well, that you can deal with, and like it not just for a day or two..or maybe weeks and months. But for the whole years of your entire life! - And that's the tricky part!

Because to fall in love with someone when they're at their best behavior is easy. But to still love someone when they're at their weakest point, is the hardest thing. Anyone can love a perfect and decent-looking person. But not everyone can love an imperfect person, perfectly!

So when it comes to finding your soul mate, you don't look for just the good ones in a person. But you pray for someone with good characters, AND also who has flaws that you can and will be able to live with. Because we're humans. No human being is perfect. But everyone wants and desires a healthy, happy, and fulfilling relationship in their lives, right? The desire to be loved and to love is the feelings that we humans have. However, it doesn't appear to be easy. Seeking for that Mr. Right is not an easy journey because that person could also be just a Mr. Right-Now! And there are many relationships that do not seem to work out because of this. Whether it's your fault or the other person's fault, it doesn't matter. It was simply the wrong person who was "right" for us at the time. And then, it'll be a looooong process of heart aches and dramas involved..and later you start questioning...who the heck is right for you then? And how do you find the perfect one laaa??! Well, you don't and you can't, honey.

Because you should find the right "wrong" person actually! Not seeking to focus for only the ones with the most perfect face, perfect body, perfect hair, perfect job, perfect house, perfect car, perfect bank accounts, the ones with awesome behaviour and character, the most knowledgeable, the most handsome, the most kind, polite and decent.. and all the good things you ever wanted! But you should also seek for the flaws that you can accept and will be able to live with, and take it without complaining for the rest of your life! - In other words, give and take! (This is a reminder to myself as well!)

Anyway, I came across a quote about relationships from Galway Kinnell that rings true for me. It states my beliefs about relationship, that it has always been about giving and taking! - We’re all seeking that special person who is right for us. But if you’ve been through enough relationships, you begin to suspect there’s no right person. Just different flavors of wrong. Why is this? Because you yourself are wrong in some way, and you seek out partners who are wrong in some complementary way. But it takes a lot of living to grow fully into your own wrongness. And it isn’t until you finally run up against your deepest demons, your unsolvable problems—the ones that make you truly who you are — that we’re ready to find a lifelong mate. Only then do you finally know what you’re looking for. You’re looking for the wrong person. But not just any wrong person: the right wrong person — someone you lovingly gaze upon and think, “This is the problem I want to have".

So finding the rightness and goodness in wrong IS the hardest part! Oh God...my only wish in searching for my other half and my right 'wrong' soul mate, is for You to grant me someone that I can deal with and bear with, in times of difficulties. Someone who I would be willing to support at his most weakest moments in life, and accept all his shortcomings and flaws he may have.....and get the same treatment in return.

I hope I will find that special person who is wrong for me in just the right way, soon. And when everything is in place, I will let our scars fall in love. And all I need to do now is to perform and give my very best of me and leave it to Allah, The Best of Planners.

If we are meant to be, it will happen. As they said, if something is meant to be, it will find its way, and make it happen. In the right time, with the right person, for the best reason, inshaallah.

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim...

That Creme Brulee Tea

Have you guys went to T42 cafe before? Man...they have the nicest tea, kan?! I really love going to this place! Especially when I'm having a stressful day and I just wanna chill. This is such a good place to relax. Nice tea, nice music and perfect ambiance!

Oh, food is good too! (I love their cakes and steaks by the way!)

Tea would be my choice each time I dine here!

This particular tea!
The Creme Brulee tea! It's sooooo good!!! Better than TWG creme brulee tea! - At least to my taste buds ;)

So classy...me like it!

Suddenly I have this craving to have their tea..and cake! Hmm..maybe one of these days I'll ask Farhana to join me..and have my English tea! Mmmmm :)

Of Ears and Earrings. The Dilemma

Man I love my ears. In fact, I actually love most normal ears in this world. By saying normal, I meant those perfectly shaped earlobes! I just find ears are cute to look at, and nice & fun to hold and play with! You may find me weird when I say all this, well probably I am, but....really, I just find people's ears are so attractive and irresistible! haha - Of course, the nicely shaped ones lah. (I don't really like those very long ears...or those who don't have the earlobes as I call it...or as they called, the attached earlobes...or whatever it is that didn't look that normal to my eyes)

For me, the detached earlobes is nice and pretty. I don't really like the deep scapha structure like I show in the first picture above, and the attached lobes especially! Simply because I can't really play with it, and they don't really look that pretty to my eyes. hehe. Alhamdullilah,  God granted me with a pretty set of ears. At least I think so! ;p

Anyways, I had this serious ear fetish since I was born. Yes, I developed this weird habit ever since I was born! - As in few weeks just after I was born in this world! And until now, I still can't seem to get my hands off my ears! It's kinda like a self-soothing or something, I guess! I just feel so calm and nice when I'm holding and playing with my ears. Macam khayal or something...can't really describe the exact feelings! haha.

Mom told me that just after few days that I was born, she said I started putting my two fingers (the index and middle fingers) inside my mouth and started sucking it..and then when I have started to lift up my hands, I used the other free hand that I have (which is my left hand), to play with my ears pulak! So back then, it's kinda like a must for me to do these two habits at the same time; sucking my fingers while playing with my ears! haha. What a weird kid I was ;p

Like this!

Sorry, bad quality picture! But that's me.. the one that my mom's holding.
My mom is the one in hijab of course!  The other women is my mom's arab friend

Anyway, I would do that every single day of my life.. But I had stopped sucking my fingers at 7 years old, and I thought I would stop playing with my ears as well. But no, this odd habit of mine, has been here for like 25 years already...and God knows when will I stop playing with my ears (pulling, twisting, flipping or whatever I can do with it!)  >__<

"Man....ears are so cool!"

"Yumm...yummm this feels so good mama! I don't need my bottles or anything else. I just need my two fingers and my ear!"

Sucking my fingers like nobody's business!

Oh look at that... She's sooo calm. LOL

Well, playing with my ears is kinda like a love-and-hate feeling/relationship actually. I mean I love to play with it, but because I've been playing with it for 25 years already, my ears aren't that crispy as they used to be! Cuz I would do this every day without fail - whenever I watch TV/movies, while reading, while blogging..while writing...while studying...while trying to sleep or any activity at all that let my hands to be free, I'll grab my ears without me realizing it!

However, these days it's no fun playing with it anymore because it's too soft now as compared to like, 10 years ago! (But regardless, I still refused to stop this stupid bad habit of mine! >__< ) So sometimes, without me realizing it, when I play so hard on my soft ears, I made my earlobes bleed! Eeek....  O__o

Well, they're only small cuts actually. But the weird thing is, I'm kinda addicted to get my ears bleed a little nowadays. Which worries me. Because now, I don't just play like how I used to, but I'm like....wanting it to get hurt and bleed a little, because that little pain I get on my earlobes, is kinda nice somehow!!!!

And at this point, I'm kinda worry what will happen to my pretty ears in the next few years?!!

When will I stop doing thisssss??!

So I think, this ear fetish has gone too far now... That's why I think, I needed to do something about it! - I need to pierce my ears! Yes, I've never been pierced before. Never. I don't like pierced ears. They just don't feel like the normal ears I play with! - I have played with lotsa pierced ears before...and it's not the same feeling I get! hahah

So....in taking control of myself, and hoping that I will stop playing with my ears consciously or unconsciously, and just be a normal human being who don't feel the need to play with her own ears or her friend's ears everyday, I'm thinking of getting my ear pierced for the first time!

So no more wearing clip-on earrings like kiddies, like that! ;p

However, I'm reaaaaaaally afraid that I don't like my new ear when I have pierced it..... :( Even if the holes have closed up already one day. Because it won't feel the same to me. - I have touched so many pierced ears before..and blearghhhh I don't like it at all! The feeling is not there! haha. Plus, if I have piercings done, I knowww I will be itching to get all the latest styles, colors and trends of the earrings for my new ears, to add on my over-flowing accessories collection. Pfffft. And that would incur my cost of living some moreeee. And I'm sure my future husband would hate those unnecessary expenses! LOL

And I know I'm not gonna wear that kind of styles forever. I know I will cover fully and properly in the next few years. So having my ear pierced without wearing any earrings by then, would totally depreciate my ear's value! haha.. ;p

And the thought of having to put on the earrings every now and then...and especially before bedtime, I must remove any dangling earrings I wear on that day, just make me quite skeptical about this whole piercing thingy. Because....it seems kinda troublesome and leceh to me lah. I still prefer my naked ear. (My naked ear which I abused that is! ;p )

Man....I sound like a 2 year old kid, giving a lot of excuses not to get the needle near her ears. haha. Well it's not about being afraid of getting my ears poked or what. But it's about me.. physically, emotionally and mentally prepared for losing my normal ears that I love so much! I'm so used to it be this way...unpoked.

Hmm....I don't know. Should I get my ears pierced? Or should I not? What if I hate my pierced ears and can't live with it? And what if I can't stop playing with it until I'm old? Is it normal to have this weird habit?? Do you guys have any weird habit that you still do after many, many years? Is this normal?? Hmmmm....... =/

Worried.

Day Five in Indonesia

So I'm up all night, thanks to the new coffee from Starbucks that I tried tonight. haha. It's the Dolce Latte or something....gosh so yummy, so strong, just how I like my coffee to be. BUT, it has made me stayed up all night that I didn't feel the need to go to bed AT ALL!!!! haha. Well it's reallllly good if you wanna stay up to complete your project or study or something..otherwise, don't ever drink it at night! hehe ;)

Anyway...I watched two movies tonight. And then after not knowing what else to do, I decided to open up my old photo albums/folders in my external hard disk drive and guess what I found?!

All my traveling pictures from Indonesia, Holland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, etc!!! I thought I have lost them! (so many pictures and stuff in my laptop, that I seem to neglect and forget a few things -___-' )

So I went and checked my blog posts, just to see what have I blogged about and what I haven't blogged about. And apparently, I didn't finish my Indonesia trip story?!! How did that happen laa?? Oh mann.... I realllllllyyyy thought I have done all of them! haha. Silly me. Probably because they're too long that I thought I have written all of them?? haha. Maybe.

So...since I have nothing else better to do at this hour, (I know at 3 am, this should be the best time for me to pray and do all the ibadah, but..it's that time of the month, so I'm on a holiday today. heh ;p), thus I decided to finish my story and let my fingers write about Indonesia tonight! ^____^

Okay. Where did I stop?

Let's check it out.....Day One in Bandung is here. Day Two here. And you can find Day Three and Four in Jakarta here. So now, Day Five and Six then!

*******************************

On our fifth day in Indonesia (second day in Jakarta), the driver took us to this place called Taman Mini Indonesia. It's something like a Miniature Town/Park in other countries that I've visited before. But this one is a little different, because it's not so mini actually, like the one I went in Rotterdam, Holland. - That one is too mini. hehe. This one is more like a park/museum where they show you everything you need to know about Indonesia customs, rituals, traditions, heritage, etc. - From their cultural stuff, the unique heritage houses, the traditional dresses, the wedding customs and dresses, the tools they use, the different lifestyles, etc! They even have some cultural events in here if you would like to see..

With 13,000 islands and 27 provinces in Indonesia, it's really hard to see all of Indonesia, right? So this Taman Mini Indonesia is such a great place to visit and see all of Indonesia in one park/place, and summarize them all! ;) - The park is filled with famous buildings from all parts of Indonesia and authentic examples of the various cultures through Indonesia.  This place is hugeeeee I tell you.. so I would advice you to plan the whole day there if you're the kind who loves all cultural stuff. And because the weather there is the same like ours, I would suggest you to bring water and towel too, because it can get pretty hot over there..

There Are No Ugly Women. Only Lazy Ones!

I strongly believe in that and firmly abide by that saying! Anyway, I'm sure any beauty fans out there have some products that they would use over and over again because they made magic happen on their face! Well, at least I do! hehe.. So today I thought I'd like to share with you girls some of my favourite items to wear on my face ;)

I'm the kind of girl who cannot leave the house without applying my mascara! I can leave the foundation, the blusher, the eye colors and liners, or even the lip balm. But not mascara! I just think that applying a sweep coat of a good mascara on your lashes can make you look prim instantly! ^__^

So anyway, my daily wear/look to the office would be the BB creams or tinted moisturizer, one shade of eye color and a mascara! That's it. I don't really like applying lipstick because I like licking my lips every few minutes. haha. Plus, my lips isn't that pale. I have a natural pinkish lips, so I don't really need colors on it. Hee.

However if I have a date, or events or gonna attend something special on that day, I would doll up a bit and put a little more make up than my usual 3 items that I just mentioned above. So today I'm gonna share what I normally use for that day..

I've always loved the neutral colors (brown/bronze/gold tones).  I don't really wear green or blue eye shadows that much... I like to stick with the natural look these days. Although my outfit is blue or purple or pink, green, etc on that day, you would still see me in neutral colors on my face! Guess I'm not really a fun person, huh?! haha ;p

So here's what I use...

Face (after applying my skincare of course):

Mac Pro Longwear foundation. Gosh...I love this foundation so much! It gives me kinda like a flawless effect, which I likeeee!

Make Up Forever Full Cover concealer - if I have blemishes to cover on that day, otherwise the foundation will do

Johnson's Baby Powder. Yes I don't really like to use other powder - compact or loose, etc. I just think that those powders made my face feels a little heavy..

And lastly, a Chanel Vitalumiere Eclat compact powder for a little touch up if I need to (that's when my eyeshadow powder drop on my cheek a little, while applying it on my eye or something like that)

Blushers:

I don't really like blushers actually. But if I feel like wearing one, I would use this Lancome Blush Subtil in rose color, and then sweep a little of that Clinique All-Over Color in Posy on my cheeks and on my T-zone area, so I wouldn't look too blushy..as this color is a little brownish pink, which is nice for that natural effect look! ;)

As for the eyes...

My current favourite would be this Naked 2 eye palette from Urban Decay. My favourite shades would be: Half Baked and Busted. They made such a pretty combo!

And then as for the mascara, I would normally apply two different types of mascara; Lengthening and Volumizing. Current favourite would be from Sephora, Outrageous Volume..and DiorShow for that lengthening effect

For eyebrows, I would either use the SilkyGirl in dark grey or, the Arch de Triumph from Soap & Glory. They match my eyebrow color, and look natural on me (I don't like wearing brown shades because my hair isn't brown. heh. I have a very dark hair, that's why I prefer the color to be as close as possible to my natural hair color)

And for the inner corner of my eye, I would highly recommend this brand! It's Clio, a Korean brand. Such amazing product! I love it so much! You can get this at Watsons. It glides so perfectly and the color is very pigmented, that's why I love it!

For eyeliners, I would apply the liquid liners on my upper lids, and pencil ones for my lower lash line
The liquid eye liner is from Lancome, and the pencil from Maybelline

As for the lips, if I wanna match my eye colors for the neutral look, I would opt for a brownish pink/nude colors. My current favourite is the Chanel lipstick. It made my lips feel so soft! And that Dior Addict lipstick in 215 is such a perfect combo with my Chanel lipstick in Canotier. These two are such a great neutral brown with a natural, smooth matte finish. The color is just right - not too pale, and good for day or night. And then I'll top off with that Sexy Motherpucker lip gloss from Soap & Glory

That's it! So what's your favourite item? :)

XOXO,
Shazzy.

Dining Out

I know this post is way long overdue, but since I'm not doing anything tonight, I thought I wanted to update this blog a bit, before I delete these photos that I had that night, in my MacBook. hehe..

A while back, I had a very nice fine dining experience for the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival  that was held at Al-Amar Lebanese Restaurant and Circus in Pavilion. Yes, two places in one night. My dear friend Esther, invited me to join this dinner that was held by The Eatertainment Group. So I had the chance to try and taste their scrumptious food that were specially prepared and served for us that night! Mmm..Lucky me ;)

So after came back from work that day, I rushed to Pavilion to fill my tummy with food as I was actually quite starving and can't wait to try their food! So the first stop was the Al-Amar Restaurant, a fine Lebanese Cuisine restaurant, which is located at Level 6 Pavilion.. (I think I will blog about Circus in another post, ok?)

When I arrived, I was served with this yummilicious green drink that has some minty and lemony taste! I'm not so sure what was in this drink.. Maybe a mixture of green apple, lemon and mint? Not too sure. But it was so good!

Then, came the appetizer. They called it as The Daily Staple

So this was our starter for that night. They called this Shanklish
A fusion of aged Lebanese cheeses, mixed with olive oil and chopped parsley, tomatoes and onions

Then we were served with this! The Cold Mezze as they called it. I like the fresh mini bread that goes with the Hommos dips..
These are the Hommos (the chick peas) and Moutabal  (eggplant) dips, steamed artichoke with a zesty garlic and olive oil dressing, refreshing Tabbouleh Salad and long beans cooked tomato sauce and olive oil

Then we have this. The Hot Mezze - Falafel, Meffarakeh, Shish Barak and Kafta Skewer. This is an all time vegetarian favourite, falafel, the shallow fried salt and pepper beef with mushroom, lamb stuffed wheat dough cooked in yoghurt and spicy kafta skewer. I personally love the Kafta Skewer!

More fresh breads..

....and more Hommos and Moutabal!
(At this point, I'm actually already quite full! haha)

But I was still eager to know what would be the main course and desserts... haha
(Desserts are always the best part, no?)

So for the main course, we can choose between the lamb or the chicken..

This is called the Lamb Rack with Cousa Mehchi and Warak Enab.
It's the juicy rack of lamb, served with rice-stuffed zucchini and vine leaves with mint yoghurt sauce.

The Moghrabieh Chicken.
A combination of chicken and semolina pearls, cooked with cinnamon and all spice onion broth.

I think I prefer the lamb more..but I only had like one bite of these two meals, so I couldn't really tell which one is nicer as I didn't enjoy the course that much...hehe.. Because I was saving my really-bloated-tummy for desserts! haha ;p

So this was our dessert to end the night!

It's called the Layali Loubnan.
Translated as "The Nights of Lebanon". This is a very popular layered pudding of kachta and bananas topped with nuts and honey. I love the taste....and I don't really know how and why, but somehow the taste of this dessert reminds me of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, for some weird reason! haha

This was our chef of the day! Chef Pierre Chahda. (who were sleeping in this picture apparently! haha)
Thank you chef, for the wonderful and delicious experience to enjoy your beautiful creations!
^__^

So...what's the price for this Full Festival Menu? It's RM 115++ per person without wine, and RM 195++ per person with wine, for those non-Muslim who would like to try!

Part 2, for that place called Circus will be in the next entry! Now...let me just munch on my apple first! Talk soon! Take care girls! ;)

Shazzy.

Wedding Dress

Haha. No girls, I'm not getting married anytime soon! Still searching for that perfect candidate, and that perfect dress. LOL ;p
Anyways..I'm at that age / phase of life where a lot of my friends are either getting engaged or getting married. So every weekend now, there's got to be one of my peers tying the knot! And I'm running out of dresses to wear to their weddings/events! >__<

The really nice ones that I have are mostly very tight now..and those are like the dresses I had, 3 to 4 years ago..which when I was a wee bit slimmer then. Haha - Well I'm not really a dress kind of person. So I don't have that many dresses/Baju Kurungs to wear. So now, when it comes to weddings, I really don't have any dresses/outfits to wear! So sad.

Anyway, early February the other day, my friend Hannah & Raimi tied the knot. So when I got their wedding invitation, the first thing that popped out of my head was, "What am I gonna wear??! I don't have anything nice to wear to her wedding!"

So I quickly dived inside my closet that night to search some other dresses that I haven't worn, to wear to her wedding. And I found one. It was nice and purple. (I like purple, by the way)

So on that wedding day, I put on my purple dress that I chose above, and got myself ready.. I was rushing that noon, because earlier that day I did the bridesmaid's make up for one and a half hour, and later I find myself rushing to get ready pulakk! haha. So when I was done with my own make up, done with wrapping my scarf nicely, and done with everything, I wanted to run downstairs to get my car keys and then shoot to some place in Damansara....

But I guess that was my lucky day. My dress somehow got caught in my room's door when I was rushing to shut it and ran downstairs.....
T____T
So it got ripped off right then and there! And all the sequins and embellishments fell off! I screamed out loud because I was so shocked that it happened so fast, and I didn't see it coming! I felt like crying because I really love that dress...AND I really don't have anything else to wear AND I was rushing to get to the place! T___T

Mmmm....Nice.

But it was too late to do anything or mourning on the torn dress, so I quickly went back inside my room trying to figure out what to wear! At that moment, I really understand what a fashion crisis really means! I felt like crying and screaming... Dah la tengah rushing. Tak ada baju pulak! Sedih betul! Sobbb...

I was thissssssssssss close to wear my jubah.... or my jeans to her wedding. Yess, jeans to a wedding! Hee.

Then I saw this Nurita Harith's emerald green dress that I had. So I tried it on...... Ughh. I thought I look so darn fat in that kaftan dress! So I changed and went to my closet again, search for something else...that I can wear. Sadly, I couldn't find a thing.... Seriously rasa nak nangis masa tu.. Baju ada, kain tak ada. Baju & kain ada, tudung pulak tak ada, etc!

And then suddenly while fidgeting and whining about nothing to wear, I had this awesome idea, that came out from nowhere! haha - Since I don't have a perfect dress to wear, I should just combine whatever that I have instead of whining about it.. and just make it look like a one piece of outfit, and flaunt it! hehe

So I pick this green skirt that I have, and went to my closet again to find her match...and use whatever that I have in my closet to mix and match with the accessories, scarf, purse, shoes, colors and everything..

And I found this Zara green shirt that I usually wear to work/office!!! Hihii. Yes, an office shirt to a wedding! haha ;p
(I accessorize it with my corset belt from In Wear that I purchased 5 years ago!)

Oh, what an awesome feeling I felt at that time, when I found these two items that can complement my skirt and my scarf! Seriously, at that moment, I feel like I just bought a new dress! Although everything that I wore on that day, aged more than 5 years! hehe..

So I wore this to my friend's wedding! Totally a new dress! hehe

Anyway, enough about my dress. Here are some of the pictures I took while I was at her wedding with my friends..

Congratulations Hannah and Raimi!!! May you guys be as happy and sweet as always! I am wishing you the best of things in your marriage.. I am glad to be a part of your wedding day, and looking forward to seeing what comes from you two! ;) May your joining together bring you more joy than you can imagine, inshaallah. Amin.
