Buka Puasa at 9Kedondong

Remember last time we did Ayden's Aqiqah at 9Kedondong, Ampang? Well..apparently they don't just cater for weddings and events only..they also have a buffet feast for this Ramadhan!! At only RM 55 nett, you can eat everything that they have to offer!

So last Thursday we went there to check out their Ramadhan Buffet..we were there a wee bit late because of the traffic jam! Huuuu. You know how KL traffic can be kan... What else is new? Lol. I think we arrived around 7.40 pm kot? Not that late, but we had to break our fast in the car first. haha. A little tip, always have dates and water in the car during this month! xD

Anyway, this place is in Ampang Hilir...at Jalan Kedondong. It's a big white bungalow house, number 9. Hence their name; 9Kedondong. So this place being in the heart of KL city, I think it's just perfect for people who work in the KL area and don't know where else to break fast during the weekdays! Murah, sedap, dekat! Wah...dah macam tagline iklan apa je ni...hehe. But they're open during weekends too!

For me, for the price of RM 55 nett (adult) and RM 28 (Child: 7-12 years old), their variety of food is pretty awesome! Look!

Siput Masak Lemak + Keladi

Ikan Asam Pedas

Sambal Telur Puyuh!

Ikan Kembung Bercili

Daging Masak Lemak Minang

Ayam Opor

Sup Sayur, Sayur Kobis Goreng Puteri..
and other ulam-ulam kampung and kerabu

They have 9 stalls all together!

They have the Live Cook Stall where they serve Mee Goreng Mamak and Kuey Teow Goreng. They have the Desserts Stall, Rojak Stall, Drinks Stall, and Cucur Stall. - Their Goreng Pisang and Cucur Udang is the besssssstttt! Me likey! They also have the Sup Stall as well, where you can get Soto, Sup Daging, Mee Sup and Bihun Sup there.

Yummm!

Oh, and Nasi Kerabu Stall too!

And for the lamb lovers, don't forget to singgah the Kambing Golek Stall!

Dah macam kenduri kahwin...Ramainya manusia! hehee

Surau is provided too! But for the ladies, I suggest you to bring your own praying attire/telekung because they only have a few. So it's better to bring your own

Oh and exclusive for my readers, if you buy for 10 pax, you get 1 pax free! For bookings, kindly contact Mr. Haziq at 017 225 0705 / 016 886 8311

The awesome way to cook!

Having a baby has changed my life 360 degree! There's no such thing as me-time anymore, and I lose lotsa sleep of course, and I definitely don't get to go to the bathroom alone anymore and taking a shower is kinda like a luxury not a necessity! haha. And one thing for sure, I definitely don't really spend hours in the kitchen to prepare and cook food! It's either I'd order a take out, or I'd just eat simple food like breads or if I really have to cook, I'd make sure it's fast, easy and convenient! In this case, I'd use an automatic cooking solution of course!

You know last time, the air fryers are all the rage in cooking! No more dunking food in deep fat. Which is so great because less oil equals healthy food! And now, we have the fully automatic stir fryers guys! Which is so awesome too, because now you can stir fry, pan fry, saute, toast, and braise using less oil as well, with no fume and stains on your kitchen walls! How awesome is that!! - This is a fast, convenient and awesomer way to cook! Oh, gotta love technology!
Recently I got my hands on the new KHIND Stir Fryer! It is one of their Signature Series collection. There are 6 products under KHIND Signature Series. They are the Stir Fryer, Hand Blender, Bread Toaster, Coffee Maker, Noodle Cooker, and Jug Kettle. This premium collection is designed to combine both contemporary and luxurious exterior, just perfect for any kitchen! This series is all about stainless steel and the premium outlook, yet affordable by every household!

I have been using this KHIND Stir Fryer for quite awhile now.. And I have to say I super love this product!!! I can just set the time to cook something...and leave it, and go check on my baby (Read: He's at that separation anxiety stage). So having this kind of technology really really save my life! I just throw everything in the pan and I can do my thing without any worries that I'll over cook or something! Just set the time and it'll cook everything by itself! It is soooo easy to use! And the best thing about this Stir Fryer is that it is super easy to clean! Since becoming a mom, I love everything that doesn't stick and easy to wash! My time is precious! haha

Anyway, let me share with you guys a simple but delicious recipe I made using KHIND Stir Fryer; my all time favourite Macaroni & Cheese with chicken

The ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic
  • 3 tbsp chopped yellow onion
  • 50g butter
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp of coarse dry parsley
  • 1 tbsp of coarse dry coriander leaves
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of milk
  • some shredded mozarella cheese
  • 1 cup diced chicken breasts
  • 3 slices chicken ham
  • 3 cups macaroni
  • 3 slices of cheese

 Instructions:

Press the ON button and press the "BRAISE" function

Adjust the timer to 15 minute, and press "START"

Add butter

Add chopped onion then garlic. Fried till fragrant

Add water and milk

Add slices of chicken ham

Add chicken breasts

Add salt, dry parsley leaves and coriander leaves

Add macaroni

When timer left 5 minute, add slices of cheese

After adding more milk, leave it for 5 min. Ready to serve!

Look! It doesn't stick!!! Sooo easy to clean, I love! What a great invention! Campak-campak all the ingredients...and tadaaaa masak sendiri within 15 minutes! haha
^_^

There you have it!
A five star classic mac-n-cheese recipe that's so delicious and so easy to make. Having this can make my Saturday Night more fun while watching The Vampire Diaries! hehe

Eat Fats!

Since I was diagnosed with this one little health problem by my doctor 3 weeks ago, I had been reading and buying all things natural and healthy. I need to watch over my diet and start eating clean food if I wish to stop the problem. I admit, all my life I have never really bothered about my health, especially since I was 19 years old, being away from home cooked meals. I used to be one of those people who don't really like eating out - My mom taught us well on eating good food and vitamins, etc. But then living in a hostel just made it kinda hard to eat healthy meals somehow. And until today, I got so used to eating out, and having fast foods, greasy meals and so many other junks that I put into my mouth...that got me into this little health problem today. Sigh. (Thank God it's nothing really alarming, but it's just something that I need to take care of)

Anyways, I find myself going to the Jaya Grocer spending 200 to 400 bucks every week now, buying whole foods and natural/organic products. I hate that healthy/organic foods are quite expensive..but I do love seeing my fridge having lotsa fruits and vegetables!

I have also starting to buy lots and lots of pure essential oils for the skin and body! I need the healthy fats in my diet. Well actually.. WE ALL DO. Our bodies need fat, not just me. It's just the way our bodies were created to function. And that means consuming real, whole foods the way people used to consume, a hundred years ago! So one thing I learned throughout my nutrition and health research is that, one of the most dangerous fads to hit the media is the “low fat” and “fat free” way of life!

Our minds have now become so programmed to view the fat free yogurt, fat free milk, egg whites, and margarine are the healthy alternatives to their natural state-fat and all. A misguided fallacy that persists to this day is the belief that saturated fat will increase your risk of heart attacks. Guys, this is simply just another myth that has been harming your health for the last 50 years!  Pfft. The truth is, healthy saturated fats from high quality minimally processed animal and vegetable sources provide a concentrated source of energy in your diet, and they provide the building blocks for cell membranes and a variety of hormones and hormone like substances. The health of our bodies is determined by the balance of essential nutrients we give it, fat being one of them! So with not enough healthy fats in our diet, could make our bodies suffering the consequences! Like I do now... I used to buy so many fat free butter spreads, yogurt, milk, etc etc thinking that they're healthy! T___T

Stocking up some healthy oils/fats in the kitchen! Virgin Coconut Oil, Avocado Oil, Olive Oil, etc! These are the essential food I take every day now..

When you hear healthy fat, think of balance, stability, and total nourishment. Healthy fats give you incredible energy, they keep the appetite regulated, and they make cells strong and healthy. It is the raw material that is needed to produce and maintain proper hormone function! So ladies with the hormone problems, eat more fats okay? Because hormones are produced using good fats and cholesterol, so if your bodies are not getting these nutrients, hormone problems arise simply because the body doesn’t have the building blocks to make them. The body needs fats for rebuilding cells and hormone production. This is especially important for the female reproductive system. - Foods like butter and coconut oil are full of short and medium chain fatty acids that our body turns directly into energy, and does not store as fat. Eating these fats actually speeds up your metabolism and balances the hormones! ^___^

Healthy fats are a key component to healthy, glowing skin too! Hence, when I found out about this, I quickly purchased a lot of pure essential oils for my skin and hair! Like Hemp Seed Oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Argan Oil, etc! I love using coconut oil especially! (I am completely obsessed with all things coconut!) I eat with it. I slather my skin with it. I shampoo my hair with it..and many more! Why? Because it has SO many beneficial things in it!

I have started incorporated coconut oils into my cooking and food...and even in drinks! I love the fragrant and the taste of it!

If you ever wanna start buying coconut oil, make sure you buy the organic, unrefined, extra virgin and cold-pressed forms yeah! They're the healthy ones. You could also buy some other healthy fats like butter from pastured or grass-fed cows (I like Kerrygold brand), organic full fat goats milk, olive oils, nut oils like macadamia, walnut, almond, etc, avocado oil and cod liver oil.

Take a listen to this doctor!

So the next time when you wanna go for some grocery shopping, leave the margarine, or the butter spreads, or those hydrogenated oils, the canola oil, corn oil, vegetable oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil and rice bran oil!! They're the evil oils! They're toxic to your body! Buy only natural, healthy fats, ok?! I will share more of the healthy things that I know in the next post..

P/s: When you think saturated fat, think glowing skin, balanced hormones, and a healthy body!

Shazzy.

Chef Wani!

Hi guys!

As you all know that I recently just got married! So now I'm in the middle of packing my suitcase for our honeymoon. I am very excited for this trip as this will be my first time traveling with my dear hubby for quite a few weeks! Yeayyy! ;)

So I had this Things-to-Bring list in my notepad and they're super loooong, that I hope my husband wouldn't see it! hahaha. Cuz I seriously don't know how to pack light although he keeps on reminding me not to pack like how I always pack! haha. I mean, how do I pack light when I'm packing for two person now?! Last time I only had to think what baju match with what shoes or accessories. But this time, besides packing for our baju into my luggage, I had to pack food for our breakfast, lunch and dinner since I will be cooking at our apartment there.. So, PLEASE TELL ME HOW DO I PACK LIGHT WITH SARDINES, INSTANT NOODLES, RICE, CRACKERS, SAMBAL BELACAN AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS INSIDE MY LUGGAGE?! Oh, goodbye 4 pairs of shoes. You're no longer travel with me. *cries*

Anyways, I asked my mom for her tips on traveling with food stuff...because last time, she was the one who took charge for this area. But now that I'm married, I should be the one who have to think what food to bring into my luggage! And guess what? I packed a lottttttt of Mamee Instant Noodles with me because this girl really don't know how to heat the stove! ;p

My mom asked me to bring all the necessary items for cooking like onions, ikan bilis, cili padi, cooking oil, et cetera, et cetera like she always pack when we're going somewhere far and long... But I told her that those things would take a lot of my luggage space and also my time to prepare the food when I'm there. So it's kinda inconvenient. Hence, instant noodles would be my best choice, as I would just need to pour the hot water then I'm done! hehehehehe *isteri pemalas* ;p

Lagi pun, me and my husband are not really a fussy eater. We can eat anythingggg as long as it's halal. Plus, I am so obsessed with noodles, I could eat them 3 meals a day! hahaha. By the way, have you guys tried the new Mamee Chef Noodles??! Omg they're soooooo good that I don't think I want to trouble myself to cook when I'm traveling to get a decent nice meal. I pack lots of Mamee noodles with me for my honeymoon trip! haha. Kalau lapar tengah malam, senang tak payah keluar...

It comes with a fork, some tauhu kering, sayur2 and the flavors..
Yums!

Seriously the new Mamee Chef noodles doesn't taste like the typical instant noodles, guys! Their soup/flavor is so good that I finish it all every time I make myself one. (Note: I rarely sip all the soup when I make myself an instant noodles) I bought the Laksa Curry flavor by the way...and oh God, it tastes like the real Laksa Curry soup!!! Like the one your mom or your grandma made!!! Sedap gileeee!! Go try it!
Ok now I'm gonna go and pack my luggage some more... See you soon!

Item number 15: Mamee noodles.  CHECKED!

XOXO,
Shazzy.

Tea Salon

So the other day me and Farhana went out to have our sushi session like usual at Pavilion..and before we end our day and went home, we stopped by this posh Tea Salon & Boutique called TWG, situated nearby Prada, Bvlgari, Chopard, stores in Level 2 around Couture area. It was my third time dining here. I wanted to have their tea and cake that day..

TWG Tea is an absolutely lovely spot for an afternoon tea with your ladies! What differentiates this tea boutique from the others is definitely their awesome idea of integrating their signature teas into savoury recipes that created a unique flavour introducing their patrons and tea lovers with the great sensations when they dine here!

This restaurant offers a wide selection of teas from all over the world. I think it was more than 300 selection of teas that you can choose! I had a hard time choosing what to order! The prices of the tea selection ranging from RM18 - RM377! Oh, I wonder how does that RM 377 tea tastes like?! I had tried a RM 10k tea before, from China.. it was a really, really good tea, but I still think that was waaaaayyyy overpriced! Although that tea that I had was more like a healthy tea kind of drinks. So I wonder how does this posh tea from TWG tastes like!

They have the Menu, the Tea Book and the Tea List.. So take your time to read them all!

Here's some of the extensive tea list that they have. Such a long list of tea with too many options to choose from with lots of interesting names! Sexy Tea, Secret Tea, Love Tea, Silver Pearl Tea, White House Tea, Rose Zephyr Tea,  etc etc!

I ordered a Magic Flute Tea with its 18k gold-plated teapot. It smells like bubblegum but tastes like a caramel or something.. The pot is non-refillable condition, by the way. tskk

Like any other tea cafe, they also have the Tea Time Set. The Tea Time Set Menus start from 3 pm to 6 pm with 3 sets to choose from: 1837, Chic, and Fortune. I ordered the Chic set for RM 46 which includes the TWG Tea from the tea list, a choice of warm toasted sandwich (turkey ham, vegetarian or smoked salmon), a choice of 2 freshly bakes scones/muffins served with jelly and whipped cream or 1 patisserie from the trolley

The afternoon tea set arrived in a beautiful tray!

I chose 2 freshly baked scones served with jelly and whipped cream, instead of muffins..

Warm toasted sandwiches with gruyere cheese and smoked salmon, served with delicate green salad and house vinaigrette. I gotta say, I don't quite like it! It tasted weird, I only had a bite! >__<

We were spoiled with so many options to choose from the menu, but I was particularly interested in their Chocolate Fondant Cake when I came here so I made Farhana eat everything else that was on our table! haha... She ordered some macarons. (Which I don't quite like as well. haha)

I suddenly had this weird craving for their chocolate cake. I don't usually like chocolate cake actually. And the last time I tried this cake, I couldn't even finish it! I only had two bites of it.. I think it was too rich and too chocolatey for me. But I don't know why on that particular day (I was PMS-ing) I wanted this cake so bad! I've been craving for a lot of sweet stuff, including this Chocolate Fondant cake from TWG, so I just had to have it! (I finished everything, sampai licin! hehe)

Anyway, this warm chocolate cake is served with a light custard cream and a scoop of homemade Vanilla tea ice cream. The cake was dark and intense. Which made the custard cream and the Vanilla ice cream a perfect combination for its light flavour and texture. This is an awesome menu to order if you're on PMS and needed something very chocolatey! haha

Farhana and her cutie pie, Yusuf! Her baby was crying all the time we were there..and she said, "This is why we don't do tea!"  haha.. Gotta enjoy my afternoon tea before I get a baby then! LOL ;p

Overall, I spent about RM 78 here, if I'm not mistaken.. And I'm definitely going back to this tea salon again to try many more of their tea! I think RM 46 for the afternoon tea set sounds good value for money. Tapi tak kenyang la. Nama pun minum petang, right? hehe. Oh, and the tea is not refillable though. So one pot may not be sufficient for 2-3 person. You may need to order more..
